Introduced in 1945 the Oyster Perpetual Datejust was the first wristwatch to feature a date display, clearly visible with a special magnifying Cyclops lens. The official chronometer rating is given to this self winding movement housed in the 26mm steel case with 18ct gold fluted bezel. A sapphire crystal protects the champagne baton dial, which is a classic design. The watch is waterproof to 100m/330 feet. The Jubilee bracelet with fold over clasp is made from 18ct yellow gold and 904L stainless steel. Rolex use 904L steel as it is a super alloy and which marries perfectly with the 18ct gold. The steel is extremely tough and highly polishable, normally reserved for the chemical industry where maximum resistance against corrosion is essential.
